On August 29th I turned the ripe age of 23, and along with that received a Steam present from my brother, the game Cave Story. If any of you haven't played it, I definitely would suggest that you play it. It's an extremely fun and entertaining platformer, and I found myself very intrigued and drawn to playing the game. I was able to play through and win the game in a fairly short amount of time (around a week, whilst going to school and work) and afterwards found myself very satisfied with the game, but also found my curiosity of art, programming, and games growing. Just seeing such a great game and finding out that it was in fact developed in a great part by one man, it definitely made the wheels in my head turn.
Around September 8th, my curiosity spiked and I decided to drop the twenty dollars to purchase YoYo Game's "Game Maker". I had heard good things in the past, and after taking a stab at a few other engines I finally decided Game Maker would be a good choice for me. I downloaded it, and began with a few basic tutorials. Mostly just prodding and poking away at the intimidating beast in front of me. Since that original phase, 11 days later I have used this engine to get a game started and somewhat on it's way to eventual (and I mean most likely VERY eventual) completion! I've decided to keep a log of my development for personal improvement purposes as well as for anyone who might have curiosity of the different stages and advances that Origins of Magic might be having.
As I'm working two jobs and taking 12 hours of school credit, the posts might be a little spotty and won't be near as thorough as I would hope, I still will try to keep updates to keep things in order. I already regret not starting this log earlier as I have already made many many advances and progress in the few days since starting. Hope you all enjoy the road as much as I have so far!

Cool! I actually had thought that you had enough games to play and wouldn't get around to playing Cave Story+, so I'm glad I had a hand in igniting the spark of this project's creation.
